Ancient Greek Geography WebQuest
Part I
Directions:You will be looking closely at ancient Greece as an example of geography's impact on human life and the course of history. To do this, you will use the internet (starting with suggested websites below) to gather information about Greece's physical geography and climate (e.g., elevation zones, precipitation, and average temperatures); record your information under the questions below. Once you have gathered enough information, you will write sentences describing the things you have learned.
1. List the two extremes in Greek elevation zones (e.g., where it is mountainous and where it is low).
2. List the average annual precipitation and average January and July temperatures for Athens, Iraklion (a city on the island of Crete), and Thessaloniki.
3. List the average annual January and July temperatures for Athens, Iraklion, and Thessaloniki.
4. Describe the main characteristics of Greek geography (looking at a satellite map).

The websites at the bottom of the page will help get you started, but you may also search using the above terms in a search engine such as Google. As you conduct their research, have take notes below on how daily life, warfare, and trade were affected by geographical factors.
